1. Starting With the Design

The sample development process normally goes with a design, tech pack, reference garment or a combination of these.

The more info available at the beginning, the easier it is for the manufacturer to understand.

For this reason, sample development is not only about measurements. We also need to consider how the fabric works with the design and construction.

Other details may also need to be checked, including:

• Linings
• Interfacing
• Elastic
• Threads
• Printing or embroidery

These details should be checked and confirmed during the sample development process.

4. Fitting and Sample Corrections

Sample development sometimes requires several rounds of communication to do adjustment.
