Different garments and different fabrics may require different sewing methods. A good sample stitch person needs to understand how the garment should be sewn and pay attention to small details during the process.

Understanding the Garment
Making a sample is not only about following the pattern.
Sample stitch people need to understand how the garment is supposed to look and how each part should be constructed.

When something does not look or work correctly during sewing, they need to communicate with the pattern maker and development team and make the necessary adjustments.

During sample development, need to understand what the customer wants from the garment, including the product positioning, target market and price.
As I work between the customer and our team, I also need to clearly explain customer requirements to the pattern maker and sample stitch people.
Sometimes a small construction detail can affect the cost or production process. We need to consider these things during sample development.
Work With the Pattern Maker and Development Team
Sample stitch people work closely with the pattern maker and the sample development team.
The pattern provides the basic structure of the garment, while sample stitching turns that structure into a real garment.
During sewing, problems may be found,the sample stitch people can give feedback to the pattern maker and me directly.
This communication between the different people involved in sample development can make the development process more efficient and reduce unnecessary changes.
Thinking Beyond the Sample
A sample is not only made to look good.It also needs to give us an idea of how the garment can be produced in bulk.
Some construction methods may work for one sample one client but create problems when producing hundreds or thousands of garments.
Experienced sample stitch people need to think about this during the sample making process.
The sewing method, construction, finishing and details should be practical for bulk production while meet the customer’s design and target price.

Pattern makers, sample stitch people, merchandisers and other members of the development team all have different responsibilities.
